When someone first mentions FarmFest I automatically think back a few years when it was absolutely freezing. I had never been so cold in all my life! So much so that on the final day I felt like I was a human ice-cube! I remember staying with my parents and coming home to an open fire well ablaze and being so cold my bones ached. I usually put FarmFest into either of two categories –...

Agricultural shows across Queensland are using their own stage to help educate communities about the real issues of today’s society, and for the Springsure P&A Show Society, the topic for 2016 was organ donations.

Opening the Springsure Show on the weekend was Associate Professor David Gracey, a kidney transplant surgeon and a senior staff specialist in the Renal Unit at the Royal Pri...

Please welcome CCP's guest blogger for this week... Andrea Schulz.

Andrea covered the Taroom Show last week and was kind enough to share with Coulton's Country her thoughts on the annual event.

Andrea's images can be purchased through the CCP website or click on the link below. Until next week - happy snapping.

I am all for planes and I take my hat off to anyone who flies them, but I must admit I go weak in the knees and my stomach starts to cartwheel once I am in one. The minute I take a seat my legs start to do a little jig and my palms get sweaty. With bigger planes I am not as bad, however I wouldn't say I am great with those either.

At Christmas time my darling husband bought me a begin...

What a treat it was to judge the adult and juvenile photography competition at the Wandoan Show this year. There were over 450 images exhibited, doubling in numbers since last year, and setting a new record for the stewards.

With seven categories in the juvenile section and eighteen categories in the adult group, it kept me busy and was a great challenge. Everyone who competed in the...

Recently I had dear friends invite me to go horse riding with them. It has been many years since I was last on a horse and even though the thought did cross my mind, my camera was again calling.

What a great opportunity to capture childhood friends catching up while doing something they both love, and this being what cemented their friendship all those year ago.

On the outskirts of T...

The Toowoomba Royal Show has been showcasing the Darling Downs since 1860 and this year they celebrated their 156th anniversary.

The Toowoomba Royal was my first show for 2016 and the first show I have covered as Coulton’s Country Photography. There were mixed feelings while I mingled with familiar faces and caught up with old work colleagues, but all in all it was a great couple of...

Have you ever been to an event where it reinforces what you love about your job and reignites the passion and drive you have for it?

Well - covering the fourth annual Springsure Cattle Camp did just that for me. It was one of those events where everywhere you turned there was a great photo opportunity and a smile on someone’s face.

Going through each of these images has brought a smil...

Properties have a uniqueness about them. Often there are old buildings, fences, yards and other bits and pieces around the place which make for some interesting photographic locations. The shoot I did on a family farm last month had just that. There was an old house that had been turned into a hay shed making it a great location both inside and out.

On arrival I introduced myself an...

Feedlots - There is something about them. They seem to remind me of when I used to work in the childcare industry. I know it sounds weird but bear with me….

Children are inquisitive little creatures aren’t they? Curious to know what you’re doing, where you’re going and why! Well…so are cattle. Both kids, and cattle, may seem shy at first but once you get to know them they are loving...
